I have enjoyed creating websites since I was around 13-14 years old and since then I have always been able to pickup the basics of new (programming) languages quickly.
While I have played around with using website creation software, my passion is to get into the code and write a site from scratch.
I currently have experience in the following languages.
Language | Confidence | Notes |
---|---|---|
HTML | I love writing pages in HTML, and my web design software of choice is Notepad++ | |
CSS | I have only recently been getting in to using CSS to its full effect but I am enjoying the possibilities | |
XML | While my experience using XML is limited, I still feel confident that I understand its basics | |
Server Side Scripting | ||
PHP | This is my go to server side language | |
ASP | I learned this in college and while rusty I would be able to pick it back up with ease. | |
Client Side Scripting | ||
JavaScript / JQuery | This is my go to client side language. | |
VBScript | See ASP. | |
Platform | ||
Moodle | I have spent the last 5 years developing and maintaining a VLE using Moodle for a training provider. | |
Wordpress | I was given a Wordpress site to maintain. While the back end wasn't bad I was never a fan of using it. | |
Bootstrap | I have been enjoying using the bootstrap platform to make new websites, including this one. |
The following are a few projects that I have been creating for fun
Chess - Using Bootstrap's Glyphicons and JS. I plan to add multiplayer functionality at a later date using Websockets.For most of my life I have been exposed to different arts and crafts.
Below you can find a few different crafts that I have tried my hand at.
Who hasn't spent some time sketching, taking a piece/pad of paper and a pencil to draw something.
Personally I feel that I have a talent to copy things, however I have tried my hand at originals.
I think I will stick with copying when the urge to draw hits however.
See some examplesSee how to do some basicsI have been cross stiching for quite a while, what started as a challenge to teach myself a new craft turned into something I find rather relaxing.
At first I started by doing some small cheap kits got from discount bins at Hobbycraft. My first big project was a copy of my Graduation picture for my Mum.
More recently I have been creating some 100 by 100 squares using sprites from video games. My plan for these is to eventually join them together and give them a soft back to make a blanket.
See some examplesSee how to do some basicsThis is a very recent craft that I have been playing around with.
I have been playing around with some rings that I have made from Aluminium wire (from Hobbycraft) and copper wire (from stripping an old coaxial cable).
The styles that I have tried my hand at are: European 4 in 1, Dragonscale, Byzantine and a varaition on the Byzantine style that I don't know the name of.
While I would like to make a full size chainmail shirt, it was quite fun to make one for my iPod.
